Young Jeezy, born Jay Wayne Jenkins on September 28, 1977, is a renowned American rapper and entrepreneur hailing from Atlanta, Georgia. He rose to prominence in the mid-2000s with his debut album Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101(2005), which was certified platinum by the RIAA. Known for his raspy voice and “trap” sound, Jeezy became one of the pioneers of the trap music genre, which has since become a dominant force in hip-hop. His influential mixtapes and hit singles like "Soul Survivor" and "Put On" helped cement his place in mainstream rap.
Over the years, Jeezy has released multiple platinum-selling albums, including The Inspiration (2006) and The Recession(2008), and has collaborated with top artists such as Kanye West, Akon, and Jay-Z.
