Young the Giant is an American rock band that formed in Irvine, California, in 2004. Initially known as The Jakes, the band changed its name to Young the Giant in 2009. Their music blends indie rock, alternative, and pop influences, characterized by soaring vocals, introspective lyrics, and melodic instrumentation. The band’s self-titled debut album in 2010, featuring hits like "My Body" and "Cough Syrup," propelled them into the mainstream. Subsequent albums, such as Mind Over Matter (2014) and Home of the Strange (2016), further solidified their reputation for thoughtful, emotionally resonant music. Lead singer Sameer Gadhia's dynamic stage presence and the band's ability to shift seamlessly between anthemic rock and softer, contemplative songs have earned them a dedicated fanbase.
